The Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenured faculty position to begin fall semester 2018 (08/27/2018). Areas of specialization are open.
Appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year. Appointment will be at the rank of tenured associate professor or tenured professor, depending on qualifications and experience, and consistent with collegiate and University policy. Salary is competitive.
Faculty in the Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active research program that includes publication, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in theoretical and/or applied economics, and to contribute service appropriate for the rank of appointment to the department, college, University, and profession.
The department's concern is the promise of the individuals to develop an active program of significant research and to become an effective teacher at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate programs, including frontier research at the level appropriate to a leading graduate program.
A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Economics or related field is required. To be considered for a tenured position in Economics, candidates must possess a distinguished record of academic achievement (scholarly research, teaching, service) that satisfies the criteria for holding an appointment with indefinite tenure in the Department of Economics at the University of Minnesota.
Candidates will be evaluated according to a) overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, b) evidence of research ability, c) evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, and d) strength of recommendations.
