The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2020. We seek a committed scholar and teacher who will help us maintain and develop a long-standing focus in geometry, broadly defined, within our department. We are open to wide range of research areas, including, but not limited to: algebraic geometry, algebraic or computational topology, convex and/or discrete geometry, differential geometry, and dynamical systems. Both computational approaches and more traditional methods are welcome. Candidates whose work applies geometric thinking to real-world problems in areas such as biology, geometric design, robotics, control theory, data science, machine learning, or algebraic statistics, as well as candidates whose work is not directly motivated by applications, are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be asked to teach courses at all levels of our curriculum, including some connected with their research. Interest in, or experience with developing and pursuing research projects with students is highly desired.
This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College's published policies.
