The Director of Development position at UNC Medicine will focus on the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts to advance the mission of the UNC School of Medicine.
This position will require a strong skill set dedicated to identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding prospects and donors at the major gift level of $100K and higher. The ability to design and implement a strategic and comprehensive development plan will be required. The position will include metric driven financial targets commensurate with the overarching team goal. He/she will be expected to carry a portfolio of 125-150 major gift prospects/donors and will be required to meet the standard visit and proposal metrics as set forth by the Medical Foundation. Experience with major gift, planned giving, and annual giving is required. The ability to build and maintain an active portfolio comprised of qualified prospects and donors is required. The ability to interact, engage and coordinate with UNC School of Medicine faculty and UNC Hospitals leadership on priority programs and strategically solicit gifts for these programs is expected.
Education and Experience:
Candidates should have 5-10 years of comprehensive fundraising experience, including major gifts, with a record of success in personally soliciting and closing gifts. Successful record of accomplishment in comprehensive campaign fundraising in academic medicine and/or healthcare is preferred. Candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement; attention to detail and accuracy; creativity and problem solving skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point; familiarity with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Some evening, weekend work and travel will be a required part of the position.
