Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Business Manager III Supervisor for the School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (SASN). Reporting to the Business Manager, Dean’s Office, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (SASN). The Business Manager III Supervisor provides a variety of business services including budget, accounting, and grant administration to a portfolio of academic departments and programs-Department of the School of Arts and Sciences Newark (SASN). Responsible for team of staff covering different departments and programs and all of their activities, ensures all functions performed accurately, thoroughly, within appropriate and relevant deadlines, and in compliance with all applicable policies and processes, including, but not limited to, budget and financial oversight, procurement, appointment and payroll, grant administration and accounting, travel and expense reimbursement, and financial reporting. Position is a key resource to Departments and advisor to the Dean’s Office, developing an administrative team to enable the provision of excellent support to the faculty and staff of the Departments. The duties of the Business Manager III Supervisor includes but not limited to: -Works with Departments to communicate, adapt, implement, and enforce budget, accounting, and grant administration policies and procedures. -Serves as a conduit for information sharing across Departments, advocates for, and represents Departments’ interests. -Provides guidance to and assists Department administrators and is their first point of contact for SASN and RU policy implementation and compliance in the areas of budget, accounting, and grant administration. -Analyzes and reviews financial data; forecasts and develops budgets; prepares financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes. -Resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of mission, vision, role and goals of the Departments and SASN and consistent with a comprehensive understanding of accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and University policies and procedures. -Interprets, communicates, and implements policies and practices to meet the needs of diverse client populations. -Works independently, with broadly defined work objectives, and limited review of overall results. -Performs professional work requiring specialized knowledge in budget, accounting, and grant administration, and a solid understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, terminology, and applied bases in budgeting, accounting, and grant administration. -Must be able to multitask and manage several complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, customer-focused, team environment with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Departments, SASN, and RU-N, and the role the tasks and responsibilities of this position play in the achievement of these goals. Minimum Education and Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally-accepted accounting principles and practices, financial functions, administration and work organization. -Also requires a minimum of five years relevant experience in a financial/accounting function, excellent communication and organization skills, and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Ability to establish and maintain continually evolving relationships with a variety of individuals, coordinating multiple activities. -Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. -Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles. -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. -Ability to take initiative and independently, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. -Ability to analyze data, information, and objectives; identify patterns, concerns, issues, problems, needs, tendencies and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications; and make sound decisions or recommendations. -Ability to anticipate problems and to address them proactively. -Must be able to multitask and manage several complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, customer-focused, team environment.
-Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field; experience with Tableau.
-MS Office Suite, Cornerstone, RAPSS, ECRT, Tableau -Regularly uses all software, systems, and equipment necessary to provide effective and efficient support for budget, financial, and grant administration.
