Clinical-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor - Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, in Ames, Iowa, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, clinical track, faculty appointment in the area of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.
The successful candidate will provide clinical service and teaching in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The primary focus for all aspects of the position will be on veterinary emergency and critical care for patients in the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital. Clinical duties may include weekend and after hours obligations. Remaining effort may include participation in research, scholarship, and traditional didactic and laboratory teaching. Appointment rank will be determined by the qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate.
The successful candidate will also have a collegial, collaborative attitude and willingness to participate in departmental programs and committees. The candidate will demonstrate commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, dedication to all levels of education, and contribute to the national prominence of the LVMC.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent degree. - Successful completion of a residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC). Individuals that are in their third year of residency training are also encouraged to apply and will be considered. - Evidence of competency in performance of veterinary emergency and critical care clinical services. - State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before first day of employment. - Eligible to register under the state Controlled Substances Act with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy upon employment.
In addition to the requirements above, below are minimum qualifications at the following ranks:Â - CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: Must have experience in academia and a record of contributions of an appropriate magnitude and quality in the clinical specialty. There should be evidence of promise for further academic development and contributions to their field.Â - CLINICAL PROFESSOR: Â Must have substantial academic experience and contributions to their professional field.
- Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC). - An advanced academic degree (MS or PhD). - Demonstrated ability to instruct veterinary students. - Experience in modern, veterinary emergency and critical care practices and standards of care. - Demonstrated ability and willingness to train residents for successful completion of the ACVECC. - A record of, or notable potential of, scholarship production through manuscript publication/preparation, preparation/success in granting activity, or national scholarly, clinical, or educational presentations.

The LVMC is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents, interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work collaboratively to provide 24-hour, high-quality care to animal patients.
