The Research Nurse Coordinator will be required to be certified and observe all HIPAA and GCP standards. He/she will report to the Director of Neonatal Research on an ongoing basis, and at regular intervals, to the CRC Research Nurse Manager (Inpatient/Outpatient Pediatrics) and, on occasion, to the CRC Director.
The candidate will be responsible for and participate in all aspects of clinical research activities including: recruitment of patients for clinical studies; patient follow-up; education and training of nurses in protocols; must be able to draw blood samples from adults; assistance in collection of samples (e.g., blood, urine and stool) and delivery of protocol interventions; in-house monitoring of pharmaceutical and device studies; collecting research study data; data entry; coordinating protocols with the IRB (including writing, renewing and follow-up); acting as liaison with the medical and nursing personnel and interacting with many departments within the Medical Center.
Candidate is required to provide bi-weekly productivity data to CRC Pediatric Nurse Manager and to attend regularly scheduled meetings for off-site coordinators.
Must be open to learning new techniques. Other duties as assigned
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Current NYS license as a registered professional nurse
Bachelors degree in Nursing
3-5 years NICU experience
Specific qualifications: Maintain a high degree of excellence in clinical research outcomes.
Ability to build and nurture relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and extraordinary attention to detail.
Evidence of good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to carry out assignments independently, with little supervision.
Ability to interact and collaborate with many departments/divisions within the Medical Center.
Positive, service-oriented attitude; self-starter with the ability to function in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Must possess knowledge of Excel, Word, Access and database software.
GCP certification required.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations required.
