JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, thisposition provides technical support for translational and basic research inevaluating the role of mitochondria as therapeutic modality in the GeneralSurgery laboratory. This position performs basic research in murine models ofacute kidney injury, bench work, and translational research in clinicalsamples.
Performs molecular biology techniques (western bots, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry). Extract RNA from tissues (mouse and human), perform cDNA sythesis, and conduct expression studies using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR).
Breeds, genotypes, and maintains mice in the laboratory.
Assists with various surgeries (ischemia reperfusion injury, nephrectomy, splencectomy, cecal ligation and puncture, or unilateral ureter obstruction model) and toxin induced kidney injury studies.
Maintains up-to-date records of mice status/experimental data within in-house mouse database.
Maintains protocol documentation for the IRB and IACUC.
Performs computer data entry and analyses using Excel, GraphPad and presents data during lab meetings.
Orders and inventories lab supplies and reagents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
