Housing and Food Services (HFS) is pleased to announce an opening for a Food Service Worker 2-Line Cook for our Residential Dining Unit at Local Point.HFS provides on-campus housing and dining to over 7,800 student residents each year. We employ over 1,200 classified, professional staff and student staff members who work throughout HFS, providing residential and dining services to the campus. Independently operate a food service area separate from centralized dining areas. Function as assistant to full-time cooks.Description of Duties*Lead employees in food preparation, serving and/or dishwashing.*Use recipes and production sheets from CBORD FSS to execute food preparation. Provide direction to kitchen staff for following recipes and standard production methods identified in these worksheets.*Use recipes and production sheets from CBORD FSS to execute food preparation and production.*Check par levels and order as needed to ensure that station is properly stocked.*Set up station, stock/restock, and rotate supplies according to established plans, par levels and food handling policies and procedures.*Assign student, hourly or Food Service Workers 1 to meet production and service needs.*Take and record food preparation and holding temperatures before the food leaves the production area and during service. *Receive customer orders, answering questions about ingredients, recipes and pricing.*Gather, assemble, package and serve menu items to customer order.*Prepare specialty beverages to customer order.*Operate point of sale systems, keying in sales, taking payments and making change; account for receipts at the end of the work shift.*Participate in cleaning the kitchen work spaces, tables and equipment using sanitizing solutions as needed.*Ensure that all foods and wares are cleaned, wrapped and/or properly stored at the close of service. *Maintain records of foods produced, foods wasted, and any recipe adjustments for the Supervisor.*Report safety issues and equipment malfunctions to management.*Print worksheets from CBORD FSS system, including order guides, production sheets, recipes and inventory tally sheets.*Take inventory counts using tally sheets from CBORD FSS system.*Perform related duties as requested.*Input data on shift activities including orders and transfers or submit worksheets to manager's office. Minimum QualificationPossession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment and one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving or equivalent education/experience.Equivalent combinations of education and experience may substitute for required qualifications.Conditions of Employment*A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes.*Maintenance of a valid Washington State Food Worker Card.Benefits:*Full benefits, including medical and dental insurance and retirement.*Paid vacation and sick leave, as well as 10 paid holidays a year and one personal day.*Subsidized transit and parking passes.*Work for a mission-driven organization that is focused on providing the best possible living and learning environment for our students.This position will work a Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule.
