Job Summary: Under direction of the Structural Foreman, and Lead Roofer, perform Preventive Maintenance and general repairs in support of Building Maintenance Services Roofing shop operation. Incumbents are expected to understand and enforce University policies and procedures, will be held accountable for meeting established expectations, and will be responsible for the physical integrity and accountability for all assigned material, equipment, and assets.
Physical Demands: May be required to work off of elevated man lifts, scaffolding, and bucket trucks.
Use fall arrest equipment when necessary.
Lift up to 70 lbs. of equipment and supplies.
Climb ladders and work at heights
Crawl, stoop, bend and work in tight or confined areas.
Work Environment: Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License. Position will participate in the DMV Pull Notice System.
Subject to completion of a Pre-Placement Medical Exam provided by Employee Health Services, at no charge to the applicant.
Employee is personally responsible for following and adhering to Departmental Injury Illness Plan and University Safety procedures and guidelines.
Position may on occasion require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials are present.
Will be assigned to work on teams or perform independent tasks under direct supervision.
Work schedule and task assignment may change as department needs require.
Work occasional overtime including evenings, weekends and/or holidays, usually on short notice as needs arise.
May be required to wear protective clothing and respirator in circumstances that require personal protection.
Employee will be required to carry University provided radios, cell phones, pagers or other telecommunications equipment
Vacation usage may be restricted during peak workload periods as required to meet the needs of the campus.

Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the roofing/carpentry trade and related practices sufficient to perform assigned duties under general supervision.
Experience operating pressure washers and blowers
Experience using common hand and power tools safely and effectively
Skill to perform minor building repairs.
Experience successfully working within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications: Written and oral communication skills to follow instructions and clearly communicate with supervisors, faculty, staff and the general public in an effective manner.
Computer experience sufficient to manage work assignments; plan, track, and adhere to budgeted costs and schedules.
Organizational skills to plan and prioritize tasks and complete assignments.
Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with all members of the campus and general public.
