Rutgers, The State University, of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Center for Population-Level Bioethics at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research:
Among the key duties are the following:
Develop independent scholarship focused on the ethics of HIV cure trials and the risks posed by such research, from a population-level bioethics perspective.
Work with the PI in preparing manuscripts for submission to journals, including one in population-level bioethics.
Prepare and submit abstracts for presentation at conferences in ethics, bioethics, political philosophy, and/or HIV science.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Terminal degree in Philosophy, Medicine, Public Health, Law or other relevant area.
Record of independent research in bioethics, applied ethics, political theory, and/or moral philosophy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High-level ability in philosophical writing, as evidenced by a writing sample.
Basic knowledge of population-level bioethics.
Basic understanding of the current state of research on HIV cure.
Previous research in research ethics, particularly ethics of clinical trials; ethics and infectious diseases; the ethics of risk and risk distribution, especially risk resulting from research.
