Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Programmer for SAS – Laboratory for Computer Science Research. As a member of the Laboratory for Computer Science Research, this position is part of a team supporting researchers and departmental operations for the computer science department. It is the least senior position in that team. Because the team supports a variety of applications of varying types, the position requires more flexibility than many applications programming positions. While most of the applications are web-based, several of our key applications have systems aspects.
Among they key duties of this position are the following:
Develops and maintains web applications in support of researchers and departmental operations.
Supports student with the auto-grader, which runs student assignments in a container, and content management support, which requires integration with departmental infrastructure.
Assist with problem identification and resolution.
Supports with maintaining compliance with operational policies and procedures.
Provides specialized expertise in areas such as this, but would work with a more senior developer or faculty member.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of at least two relevant programming languages (e.g. Java, PHP, python).
Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies; Linux, Java, PHP, python, virtual machines, container systems, MySQL, Apache.
Experience putting together software components to meet requirements, e.g. use of APIs and plugins.
