Vet Care Tech – Tier II – Oncology: Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal care, specifically in the area of oncology. The successful candidate will assist team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Small Animal Oncology unit. The successful candidate will oversee and instruct professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: receiving patients; organizing, directing, and providing helpful and collegial assistance during regular clinic hours; assisting with animal restraint; instructing and performing venipuncture, IV catheter placement; collecting and submitting laboratory samples and distributing laboratory results; coordinating students during patient receiving so that case flow is organized and efficient; coordinating patient admissions; facilitating patient discharge; scheduling and performing technician patient appointments and generating the appropriate complete medical record for such cases; assisting with scheduling and coordinating of special procedures including CT and MRI scans, Radiation Oncology appointments, and other advanced imaging or specialty consultations throughout the hospital; entering charges for all procedures and tests performed on patients; assisting with receiving emergencies; administering chemotherapy to patients; instructing and observing veterinary students during procedures and appointments; cleaning, organizing, and stocking of the oncology ward and receiving area; assisting with communication to the clients and referring veterinarians; and other duties as assigned. The successful candidates will be expected to work 40 hours a week on first shift between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm subject to flex due to business needs. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.

Degree from an accredited veterinary technology program; or an associate's degree or bachelor's degree; completed and successfully passed VTNE prior to hire date. State of Ohio Registered Veterinary Technician at the time of hire.
Combination of RVT and Veterinary Assistant or clinical veterinary hospital support; previous experience as a Veterinary Care Technician – Tier 1; previous experience working in the designated specialty. Previous experience as a licensed, registered veterinary technician and/or Veterinary Assistant.
Target Salary: $16.00 - $19.23 Hourly
