The mission of the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Bridgewater State University is to prepare teacher candidates for their initial licensure in the fields of elementary education and early childhood education. At the graduate level, we offer a program for classroom practitioners to satisfy the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements for professional licensure at the elementary and early childhood levels. Our graduate programs also prepare experienced educators for positions as consultants and consulting teachers of reading
The Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education is seeking applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for early childhood and elementary education in mathematics, with other teaching opportunities in early childhood and elementary science and/or technology education.
This position will also supervise student teachers, advise at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and work collaboratively with department faculty members to develop and strengthen the preparation of teacher candidates in the area of mathematics instruction.
A PhD from an accredited institution in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education or a related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered.
A minimum of three years full-time teaching experience in a public-school at the elementary level and a public school teaching license are also required.
Preference will be given to those who show evidence of scholarly work, experience with technology, a minimum of two years of college teaching, experience with supervision of student teachers, and experience teaching mathematics.
Additional experience in other content areas such as science or STEM is preferable.
