The Development Officer will secure individual support for NYU and its programs. This role will work with academic units and leadership to plan, develop, and close solicitations for major gifts. This position typically solicits gifts in the six figure range, up to $1M; may supervise subordinate staff; assist in some grant writing for individual proposals as well as (@ $25-$100K) corporate and foundation grants. Focuses cultivation on individuals such as Profiles, alumni and friends of the school or university and small grants from corporations/foundations. The Development Officer will conduct fundraising calls to alumni and non-alumni prospects and donors; collaborate with the research department to identify prospective donors and provide cultivation strategies; assist with development and implementation of programs and events sponsored by department; assist with staffing of events.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 5+ years relevant experience or equivalent. Must include experience in fundraising, events planning, cultivation and stewardship of donors, and staff supervision
Preferred Experience: Experience with fundraising in an academic and/or non-profit environment
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
