Senior Systems/Software Engineer, ASTM Test Monitoring Center (TMC)-2013540
The ASTM Test Monitoring Center (TMC) at Carnegie Mellon University monitors ASTM test methods used to establish performance and quality of automotive lubricants. These tests are conducted by oil marketers and independent laboratories in North America as well as in other parts of the world.
The TMC is searching for a Senior Software/Systems Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will contribute to the department by developing functional web based applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and performing full stack developer tasks on several data collection and analysis projects. Core responsibilities will include:
Developing functional applications or improvements to existing web based applications
Investigating and resolving user problems and questions regarding hardware, software and networking
Running and monitoring network back-ups and recommending hardware/software for usage
Database creation and oversight
Designing, developing, testing and maintaining applications or systems programs
Designing and maintaining user documentation
Evaluating user requests to determine feasibility, cost and time requirements and system compatibility. Developing specifications based on user and system requirements
May guide or train lower level staff. Participating on departmental and multi-functional project teams
Supporting user issues related to the system or application performance and availability
Performing related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree required
3-5 years of Operating System Administration experience required
3-5 years of Systems/Software Engineering and Systems Programming experience required
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
