Job Description Summary
The Business Manager plays a central role in the day-to-day development and operations of Wharton People Analytics, managing the Business Administrator responsibilities and providing administrative coordination for the department.
This position manages and administers grants and contracts, monitors budgets, submits financial reports to corporate partners and funding agencies; assists Principal Investigatorâ™s with pre- & post- award grant processes; monitors center expenses, manages payroll, purchasing and approves Concur reports; prepares annual budgets; generates monthly reports to conduct monthly reconciliations; as well as contributing to the initiatives data and file organization, managing calendar and meeting logistics, providing executive level administrative support, support to the People Analytics Conference Team, and other office management related activities as needed.
We are looking for people with strong organizational skills who are good at and enjoy project and process coordination, collaboration, attending to details and creative problem solving. The Business Manager is expected to be an exceptionally well organized and proactive member of the team, coordinating and supporting additional events and activities as needed. This position has a dual reporting relationship and reports directly both to the Department Executive Director and the Vice Dean of Finance and Administration.
Qualifications Bachelorâ™s Degree and 3-5 years of experience in grant and research administration or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-5 years of university experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently, problem solve and multitask is essential. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Business Objects/BENFinancials and have experience working with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
