Summary of Position: Tenure Track Faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
Major Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities will be to serve as Program Director of Athletic Training which is fully recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all aspects of the Athletic Training Program. The candidate will provide guidance in the transition of the undergraduate athletic training program to the M.S. in Athletic Training Program. The candidate will also teach undergraduate courses in athletic training and other courses assigned by the department chair. In addition, the successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity, university and community service, advise students, work with the Office of Admissions in the recruitment of students into the ATP, serve on departmental/college committees and participate in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates will possess an earned Doctorate in Athletic Training, Human Performance, Kinesiology or related field. Candidates who are ABD may be considered. Experience with clinically-related program administration. Additional requirements include current Board of Certification (BOC) certification and eligibility for NY State Licensure, a minimum of five years of professional clinical experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer and evidence of supervision and evaluation of athletic training students. Knowledge and experience with the CAATE accreditation processes and the administration of an athletic training program.
Preferred Qualifications: The candidate should have at least three years' of demonstrated university-level experience in teaching in the areas of athletic training, kinesiology and/or research methods at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Two or more years of experience as a Program Director and/or Clinical Education Coordinator of an ATP. Demonstrated record of leadership and the ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty. Experience as a CAATE evaluation team member for on-site visitations of athletic training programs.
