The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Assistant Supervisor of Campus Services at the Health Sciences Center. Under the direction of the Manager and/or Supervisor, this position will oversee general cleaning of assigned areas at the Health Sciences Complex and Cancer Center. The Assistant Supervisor will also be responsible for training and work of other custodians.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Assign routine duties on shift, and participate in planning both routine and special projects.
Oversee and inspect work of custodians.
Participate in selection and evaluation of custodians, including hiring, firing and disciplining as needed.
Order, issue, secure and maintain records of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Train new employees, explaining needs of job, sets and displays, duration of job and manpower, and proper use of equipment and supplies.
Ensure procedures are followed so jobs are completed in a timely fashion with proper quality of work.
Interface with Control Center, Supervisors, Managers, and/or requesting party to finalize set-up needs, event needs and/or scope of request.
Remain up-to-date on various cleaning products, equipment, safety procedures, medical monitoring and other associated practices of the custodial field.
The Division of Facilities and Services encompasses seven units that are integral to the University's success. Work Hours: Sunday-Thursday; 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Pay Grade: 13, WVU provides competitive wages for its employees, and takes related experience and education into consideration when determining appropriate salary.
At least two (2) years of experience in the following:
Progressive supervisory or leadership performing similar work
Broad-based trades experience
Operation of powered custodial equipment and knowledge of custodial products
Daily physical coordination and demands include:
Standing, walking, bending and climbing
Lifting of up to 75 pounds
