The Department of Pain and Translational Symptom Science (PTSS) at the University of Maryland School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure- track, to join our National Institute for Nursing Research (NINR) P30- funded Omics Associated with self- management interventions for Symptoms (OASIS) Center. We seek an outstanding nurse scientist with high energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for developing a robust, independently funded program of research in the areas of omics( e.g., genetics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, proteomics, others) mechanisms associated with chronic pain. The PTSS department is a collaborative group of pain and symptom scientists who apply cutting edge methods in basic, translational, and clinical programs of research. In addition, faculty and trainees in the PTSS department are invited to join the interdisciplinary campus- wide Center to Advance Chronic Pain Research (CACPR), co- led by Drs. Susan G. Dorsey and Joel D. Greenspan. The CACPR offers the successful candidate the opportunity to collaborate with pain researchers from the schools of Nursing, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, and Social Work. The CACPR hosts bi- weekly pain interests group seminars and an annual symposium on a variety of chronic pain topics.
Doctoral degree (PhD) in nursing (preferred) or related field. Required evidence of scholarly achievement in terms of data- based publications, extramural funding for pre- and post- doctoral research training and regional or national research presentations. Two years of post- doctoral fellowship experience is highly preferred.
