General Statement of Duties : The Associate Dean for Distance and Global Education will serve as the university's leader in distance and global education, overseeing the course planning, course onboarding, faculty development, policy development and implementation, and managing partnerships required to deliver a comprehensive and successful online program. The incumbent will also provide oversight for the Department of International Programs.
Responsibilities: (E) = Essential
1. (E) Serves as program manager for development and implementation of online academic programming. 2. (E) Serves as the university representative/liaison for external vendors and organizations involved in developing, implementing and maintaining online academic programming. 3. (E) Oversees the development and implementation of university-wide policy regarding online course ownership, compensation, and other relevant details. 4. (E) Supervises the Director of International Programs. 5. (E) Delivers faculty development, in collaboration with Information Technology and the Center for Teaching and Learning, in online instructional design, classroom technology, and delivery. 6. (E) Delivers faculty development in global learning pedagogy, especially relating to general education curriculum, (i.e. Diversity Across the Curriculum). 7. (E) Delivers faculty development in faculty-led study abroad programs. 8. (E) Liaises with DGCE and academic departments to onboard and launch online graduate classes. 9. (E) Oversees the planning and onboarding of undergraduate online classes in academic affairs. 10. (E) Supervises Instructional Design specialists and/or team. 11. (E) Develops a global leadership team (with International Programs, President's Office, and DGCE); identifies the charge, measurable targets and strategies towards institutional goals. 12. (E) Collaborates with academic and administrative departments to promote international student success. 13. (E) Promotes and advises the university on new technologies relevant to distance and global education. 14. (E) Collaborates with Student Affairs, Information Technology and Student Accessibility Services to address accessibility needs to meet compliance regulations related to online instruction and the use of digital learning tools. 15. (E) Fosters best practices in online and digital learning modalities. 16. Assists faculty in compliance with copyright and other laws concerning intellectual property. 17. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students. 18. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan. 19. (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives. 20. Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Ph.D. or other terminal degree from an accredited institution. 2. 3-5 years of experience in online instruction and/or online course development 3. 3-5 years of experience in policy development and implementation 4. 3-5 years of experience working in higher education, preferably as a faculty member or distance and global education administrator

The firm salary range for this exempt professional, non-unit position is: $100,000 - $110,000, based on relevant experience.
