Eastern Washington University Libraries and Learning Commons invites applications for a Temporary Secretary Senior on our Cheney campus. This position is a 100% appointment working Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Provide primary and increasingly complex support as a secretary senior in the EWU Libraries and Learning Commons Administration Office. Maintain professional, attentive, and positive presence and interactions. Engage frequently with students, staff, faculty, donors, and the public. Apply effective communication, interpersonal, and organization skills to perform duties and achieve goals. Maintain accurate records and documentation of tasks and processes. Create, navigate, and maintain databases. Independently plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Initiate action to complete tasks and meet goals.

This position is supervised by the Libraries Business Manager. Position is located on Eastern's Cheney campus.

Conditions of Employment
This temporary (not project) position is available due to an existing vacancy. Our need for the position is anticipated through June 30, 2020. The position is eligible for extension beyond June 30, 2020. Should the position become available to fill on a permanent basis, the person in this position will be eligible for consideration for reassignment to the permanent position.
Work location is JFK Library on the EWU Cheney campus.
This position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check prior to the first date of employment.
Successful candidate will be required to show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. pursuant to U.S. immigration laws.
Essential functions: •Ability to work at a computer station for extended periods five days per week. •Ability to type at a computer at a moderate rate of speed (i.e. 50 words per minutes). •Ability to read and understand information in databases, websites, etc. •Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. •Ability to communicate professionally by email and telephone. •Proficiency in keyboarding, computer use, email, and recordkeeping.

Must be available to work assigned schedule Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This position is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees' Collective Bargaining Agreement..
High school graduation or equivalent
Two years of increasingly responsible work experience in the secretarial/receptionist/office support field. Equivalent education or experience may be substituted.
Two years of experience maintaining and creating MS Excel or Access databases.
Three years of experience working with other standard office applications. Examples include Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Two years of experience operating ancillary office equipment such as computer workstation, printer, fax machine, copy machine, scanner, and telephones.
Three years of experience communicating effectively and professionally with a diverse range of clients, both verbally and in writing, using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
Five years of increasingly responsible work experience in the receptionist/secretarial field.
Two or more years of college coursework.
One year of experience using Adobe desktop publishing software.
One year of work experience using MaestroSoft software.
Two years of experience using Banner information systems, or similar enterprise data system (multi-dimensional, complex data system with over 10,000 records)
Three years of experience making travel arrangements and working with state per diems and guidelines.
