Description The Facilities Design & Construction mission is the implementation of the Health System's Capital Improvement Program in keeping with the Long Range Development Plan ( LRDP). This includes the authority and responsibility to manage acute care capital improvement planning, design, and construction projects.
As a department within FD&C, Facilities Planning is responsible for advising and assisting UCDH's leadership with the planning, oversight, and allocation of investments in future and existing capital and space improvements on the UCDH Sacramento Campus. Facilities Planning (in coordination with the UC Davis Main Campus) provides guidance and oversight of UCDH's Capital Improvement Program and capital project approval process; manages and advises upon the allocation of spatial resources and capital and lease investments; provides space utilization assessments and transition planning services; manages real property (leased) as tenant representative in matters of leasing and construction; and manages the vast furniture project, inventory, and move logistics program for UCDH.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Bachelor's Degree (preferably in planning, healthcare, business administration, architecture/design, construction management, project management, real estate) and/or equivalent education/experience. -Minimum 2 years experience in project and program management for projects of medium scope and complexity. -Experience in stakeholder engagement, group facilitation, and coordination. -Experience using basic software tools such as MS Excel or Project to create and manage budgets and schedules.
PREFERRED -Experience managing, planning or specifying systems furnishings. -Experience successfully managing facility projects including direct responsibility for the leadership of the project team and development and management of the overall project budget and schedule. -Knowledge of a university or government work environment. -Knowledge of, or work experience in, a hospital or outpatient setting. -Basic knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, California and industry building codes and regulations, ADA compliance, fire codes, municipal ordinances, university regulations, policies and procedures. -Experience overseeing large vendor contracts within a government or public agency setting. -Experience developing and overseeing space, furniture and/or facility standards within a large organization. -Experience developing plans and specifications using CAD software.

Responsibilities The Facilities Project Management Specialist 2 provides project management, facilities and institutional planning and furniture procurement for interior projects of limited scope and complexity with an aggregate annual budget up to $100,000. Projects at this level involve programming and planning for tenant improvements and minor reconfigurations and typically involve furniture planning, coordination with minor construction, furniture procurement and move coordination. Projects may involve coordination with design and engineering professionals. The project manager may manage elements of larger projects under the oversight of a higher level project manager or construction manager.
