The Head Coach is responsible for managing daily operations of the Women’s and Men’s Crew Programs and the recruitment of student-athletes. The Head Coach will oversee travel arrangements for boats, students and personnel to events, equipment management and allocation of resources for both the Men’s and Women’s crew programs. Duties also include: Fundraising and development activities for 1 or more sports.
This position is a part-time assignment, schedule to work less than 19 hours per week.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to interpret and apply all relevant rules and regulations.
Technical expertise in assigned sport(s).
Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools.
Coaching and/or playing experience in assigned sport(s)
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage program resources for a crew program.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise discretion & judgement on matters of significance.
Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at all university levels, and with the ability to represent the department and the university to off-campus constituencies, including alumni, friends, corporate partners and donors.
Ability to learn and interpret university and department policies and procedures.
Working knowledge of NCAA Division III Rules & Regulations.
Head coaching experience in assigned sport preferred.
Knowledge of Chapman University Policies & Procedures.
