The primary purpose is to serve as a medical diagnostic technician (oral radiology technician) in providing two and three-dimensional radiographs for patients of the UNC School of Dentistry including operatory preparation and maintaining asepsis, exposing and processing radiographs, collecting and recording patient data and providing assistance to dental students and radiology residents.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in medical diagnostics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses.
This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with and exercise tact and diplomacy with a variety of people, including staff, students, faculty and patients. Strong professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work on many projects simultaneously, to negotiate for successful results, and to thrive in a fast-paced setting while providing excellent customer service are essential. Must be adaptable to interruption and have knowledge relating to HIPAA practices.
Ability to implement/use/maintain systems that produce accurate, timely and complete data collection, filing, patient records and scheduling. Ability to review, compile, assimilate, organize, analyze and store printed and electronic information and to prepare schedules, records, reports and other needed information.
Experience preparing operatories and maintaining asepsis, exposing and processing radiographs, collecting and recording patient data and providing assistance to dental students and radiology residents.
At least two years of experience in some form of radiological services highly desired; A four-year college degree is preferred but not required.
