Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for the Office of Career Exploration and Success (formerly University Career Services). This position reports to the Associate Director for Experiential Education and Discovery and performs a wide range of counseling, programming, and administrative functions primarily related to first-year and sophomore still exploring students. The Senior Program Coordinator provides direct service delivery to undergraduate students and is responsible for working with students in the still exploring career cluster. Topics include developing a plan, career and major exploration, self-assessment interpretation, internship/co-op search strategies, and resume reviews.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Hires, trains, and supervises students as part of the Peer Career Advisor (PCA) Internship Program.
Leads efforts in exploring new models for career advising including the implementation of a Career Studio.
Provides career counseling services, and facilitates programs associated with self-discovery and an exploration of UCS resources.
Serves as the main facilitator of key educational programming focused on self-discovery and introduce first-year students to Office of Career Exploration and Success resources.
Manages career assessment tools and explores creative ideas for driving self-assessment and group interpretation sessions.
Supports efforts to launch a campus-wide career readiness badging system.
Manages the relationship with various campus departments that work with first-year students and students still exploring career cluster.
Actively participates in department meetings and Counseling Roundtables to maintain professional development in the counseling area and pursues other avenues of professional development.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have a student-focused orientation with exceptional counseling skills
Knowledge of career development theory and career assessment interpretation, as well as good organizational, presentation, administrative, and computer skills
Requires a high-energy level and receptivity to change is also important
A master's degree and experience within a career services or higher education setting is preferred.
Online career tools (e.g., Self-assessments, Vault, People Grove, Candid Career, etc.), Handshake, Symplicity or similar career management systems, etc. Sakai, Canvas or other LMS system.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be willing and available to work some nights and weekends as well as travel when needed.
Salary: $58,000 - $60,000
