The George Mason University, Office of Student Financial Aid Office invites candidates to apply for the Federal and Private Loan Administrator position. This position is responsible for providing exemplary customer service to the university community.

The position independently performs a variety of complex functions to help coordinate federal, state and institutional financial aid programs; serves as an integral part of the OSFA while maintaining an advanced level of knowledge of the broader general departmental functions; supports reporting functions and provides a wide range of electronic services on behalf of OSFA, including the ongoing electronic data exchange processes, loan information, and Common Origination and Disbursement (COD); assists in the daily administration of the loan programs encompassing the following tasks: posting and reconciliation, canceling and returns, and serving as liaison with a variety of private lenders and loan servicers; provides assistance with all graduate tuition waivers, grants and undergraduate scholarships; responsible for processing various forms of state assistance; and serves as the initial point of contact for a variety of loan-related inquiries.
The work hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Prior work experience in a university setting , ideally in a financial aid office;
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Candidates should possess a strong desire to provide the highest level of service to students and their families, and have an energetic and positive approach to work;
Excellent customer service skills working with students, parents, the university community, outside vendors, and processing centers ;
Knowledge of Federal Direct Loan Programs and eligibility and processing requirements;
Experience with the Ellucian Banner system and previous work in an institution of higher education;
Knowledge of financial aid programs, processes and procedures;
An understanding of the alternative educational loan market;
Strong organizational and analytical skills, including use of current technology and software to review data;
Ability to work under pressure to meet guidelines;
Willingness and ability to accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work;
Ability to multitask, produce work independently, and prioritize job assignments;
An understanding of graduate program financing, including tuition waivers and scholarships.
