Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
This person will be responsible for coordinating clinical trials and other clinical research projects for the Johns Hopkins Multiple Sclerosis Center. This may involve, but is not limited to, identifying appropriate patients, screening medical records, consenting study participants, performing data collection and entry, collecting blood samples and organizing regulatory paperwork.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
He/she will work directly with the principal investigators and other study coordinators to develop, amend, and execute study protocols. He/she will attend clinics, as needed, to provide screening for research participants. The research coordinator must also monitor, schedule, and execute participants’ study visits and monitor the study budget. Will also assist with processing lab specimens, as needed. The position reports to the division’s Research Manager, with an indirect reporting line to the faculty principal investigators of the clinical research projects.
He/she will manage and maintain all participant binders, study binders, and documentation for the study as well as assist the principal investigators in preparing for audits, advertising for the studies, implementing new recruitment strategies, and preparing reports for the IRB as well as handling and documenting IRB correspondence.
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor's degree in related discipline required. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Microsoft Word and Excel experience required. Must have professional attitude, excellent organization and communication skills, mature outlook, be self‐motivated. Must be able to independently complete tasks, be detail-oriented and able to multi-task. May attend educational lectures and conferences.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
