Boston University's School of Social Work seeks a creative, motivated and forward-thinking Assistant Dean of Field Education! With over 100 years of social work education experience, the School offers various curriculums to meet the needs of our non-traditional students. The Field Education component goes beyond the classroom to apply theory in a dynamic level.
The Assistant Dean of Field Education has overall responsibility for all aspects of field education, including program administration, field placement activities, educational activities that support the school's missions and curriculum, academic monitoring of students in field placements, and involvement and leadership in SSW and University committees, as well as professional organizations.
The Assistant Dean will lead a dynamic staff and interact with various stakeholders including faculty, advisors, field instructors, community agencies and students. This role ensures that students have an enriching experience in their field placement and the agency is thrilled with the level of care. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to ensure the School's Field Education requirements meet accreditation standards outlined by the Council of Social Work Education.
A minimum of Master's degree in Social Work. LCSW or licensure eligible in MA required.
Five to eight years' work experience. At least 8 years' experience developing field education curriculum and implementation through training instructors and students. Some experience with competency-based and online education preferred. Three to five years' experience with reaccreditation activities, CSWE experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience with a diverse team is also preferred. The candidate will have experience demonstrating advanced communication skills for various stakeholders, with an emphasis on writing, and will have experience setting goals for program and staff. The individual will have strong decision-making skills, but ability to remain flexible.
