The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking applications for two full-time, 12 month service period faculty at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank, without tenure by reason of funding. The salary and rank is commensurate with applicant's training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Fall 2019.
This position will be primarily based at UW Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, or Northwest Hospital, or some combination therein and will provide a spectrum of colorectal surgery services as well as participate in broader colorectal multidisciplinary clinics. The position involves providing comprehensive surgical services in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor and anorectal pathologies and minimally invasive approaches to colorectal surgery. In addition to clinical practice, the candidate is expected to participate in the teaching of surgical residents, medical students, and division fellows. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an area of scholarly expertise, as expected of every faculty member, in consultation with the Division and Section Chiefs. The candidates must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or board eligible (or foreign equivalent) in surgery.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
