The Commerce Specialist has a significant role in maintaining, enhancing and monitoring the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance activity for Brown University, encompassing all infrastructure and software applications. The specialist serves as the primary contact for centrally-managed business solutions in support of payment cards and is responsible to provide quality customer service, keep data secure and ensure financial integrity. This position is responsible for monitoring University departmental merchant PCI DSS and University payment card compliance, providing general merchant related support, continued maintenance and enhancement of e-commerce solutions including development of internal controls, and providing training and support to users. This individual also serves as backup to the Cashier Office Manager to open and close the office in his/her absence.
Facilitate activities to ensure University-wide compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), industry regulations, and University policies and procedures related to credit card and payment operations
Coordinate and communicate annual compliance merchant/department compliance requirements and reviews, including completion of Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs)
Serve as liaison between University departments/merchant and credit card processor for the establishment, maintenance and close of merchant accounts and the administration of the associated hardware and software
Assist departments/merchants with card terminal usage and troubleshooting any issues or revenue and fee questions
Participate in new technology deployment initiates, contributing to the overall adoption of best security practices
Provide backup support for the Cashier Office
Bachelorâ™s degree in related business or information technology field
Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in financial operations, compliance, or information technology field and knowledge of credit card industry, specifically Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards preferred.
Proficiency in e-commerce solutions, preferably TouchNet Marketplace/Payment Gateway
Experience implementing or evaluating the PCI DSS compliance, which includes qualifications as a QSA or ISA or PCIP or ability to obtain one or more of these certifications
Ability to understand functional needs and assess technical needs
Practical experience with IT operations environments
Ability to work independently in solving problems, handle multiple assignments and manage details in an organized manner
Ability to understand, discuss and explain technical issues with diverse audiences
