CSUF faculty are committed teacher-scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. Candidates for this position should be Pure Mathematicians. The primary preference is for a candidate whose main research area is in Algebra (MSC201005, 06, 08, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20). Specific teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, and Introductory Proof Writing. The secondary preference is for a candidate whose main research area is in Partial Differential Equations (MSC201035, 83). Specific teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Vector and Tensor Analysis and Introduction to Partial Differential Equations. In either case, candidates will also teach other upper-division courses and various calculus courses. Additionally, the department expects the candidate to conduct research resulting in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, direct faculty-student collaborative research, and to advise undergraduate students. The successful candidate will also further contribute to the mathematics community at CSUF through professional activities as well as service on departmental and university-wide committees.
Required Qualifications The qualified candidate must have a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics or a related field.
At least one year of post-doctoral experience either in research or teaching
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level
The ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Potential to mentor students in research projects

Pure Mathematics at CSU Fullerton The department has an active faculty group whose research spans areas of algebra (group theory, noncommutative ring theory), analysis (mathematical physics, geometric function theory, operator theory, C*-algebras), and geometry (algebraic geometry, differential geometry, low-dimensional topology). In addition to conducting their own research, CSUF pure math faculty engage in research projects with undergraduate students as well as teaching classes in the department's corethe set of courses taken by all undergraduate mathematics majors.
Mathematics Department The Mathematics Department has 32 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers an undergraduate degree program with concentrations in pure mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, and teaching mathematics. The department also offers the following degree programs: M.S. in Statistics, M.A. in Applied Mathematics, and M.A. in Teaching Mathematics. Extra-curricular activity is an integral part of our department culture. We maintain a strong student research presence at the Joint Mathematics Meetings and our Putnam Team regularly scores in the top quartile. We are considered a leader in cutting edge and inclusive pedagogical practices. Our faculty often pursue and are awarded grants to fund efforts to support our students.
