Essential Job Duties:
In order to promote the success of the whole student, NC State Student Health Services is looking to expand culturally competent health services for members of the LGBTQ+ community on our campus. This Staff Physician position will be a health care provider with specific expertise and will also be an ambassador for the exchange of information, resources, and tools to address the health concerns of LGBTQ+ students for the entire staff.
In general a Staff Physician's responsibilities include:
Provide quality patient care including interviewing, examination, treatment, follow up and referrals, as needed
Educate patients in the areas of wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources
Document all services in electronic medical record according to SHS charting standards
Participate in quality and performance improvement projects, peer review and continuing education
Participate in committees and departmental meetings, as assigned
Work cooperatively and productively with cross functional teams and departments
Deal tactfully, positively and productively with patients, staff and university administrators
Maintain confidentiality according to SHS and federal guidelines and regulations
Assist in resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
Respond to urgent and emergent situations
Perform duties within a high volume medical practice
Consult with the Director, Medical Director and other professional staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment and education
Comply with all applicable policies, rules, regulations and directives including SHS guidelines and procedures and those issued by supervisors
Participate in safety drills (medical, fire, disaster)
Other duties as assigned.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Successful completion of primary care residency training and board certification in a primary care specialty.
Demonstrated competencies and skills in primary care medicine including, but not limited to, physical assessment, suturing/minor surgical procedures, and mental health screening.
Effective Communication: Advanced communication and interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on customer service, including ability to collaborate with other clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, support staff and health center/campus administration.
