The Associate Director of Specialty Campaigns will manage an exciting set of campaigns aimed at inspiring philanthropic support to Vanderbilt University. As an integral member of the cross-functional Loyalty Giving and Specialty Campaigns team, this person is motivated to create exceptional philanthropy experiences for our faculty and staff, alumni, students and friends. The campaigns they manage will have donor count and financial goals and include University-wide priorities as well as affinity group projects.
The ideal candidate will bring solid skills in planning, organization, execution and analysis. They should be a creative and resourceful thinker and with strong skills in collaboration and partnership-building. The Associate Director of Specialty Campaigns will focus primarily on the growth, and refinement of Vanderbilt's faculty-staff and crowdfunding campaigns.The goal of these efforts is to increase donor engagement, participation and dollars raised.
The Department of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals.The Department is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs.
Duties and responsibilities
Manage faculty-staff fundraising campaign co-chair volunteers, make recommendations to enhance the program's infrastructure, create and implement new faculty-staff engagement opportunities, execute a communications plan, and collaborate with campus partners to ensure the program's success.
Work collaboratively with the Direct Response, Campaign Communications and Information Management teams to ensure that projects are completed according to deadlines, with accuracy, quality, and integrity. Including: continuously compile, review and analyze project outcomes against established goals, objectives and timelines
Create and execute marketing plans for multiple crowdfunding campaign
Provide leadership and serve as an annual giving resource for student and alumni fundraising volunteers as it relates to planning and executing social media strategy to help make crowdfunding initiatives a success.
Produce reports to assess program success and identify important giving trends, leveraging the donor database to complete regular data analysis of program performance
Assist Loyalty Giving team in the day-to-day management of annual giving stewardship activities.
Provide ad hoc project support for annual giving initiatives within DAR
Handle sensitive donor and student information in the strictest confidence, according to departmental and institutional policies
Work cooperatively with Development and Alumni Relations colleagues
Maintain strong and effective relationships with Vanderbilt faculty and staff external to DAR
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is necessary
One year of relevant experience is necessary
Superior verbal and written communication skills are required
Ability to exercise good judgment in the handling of confidential information
Ability to use current computer technology, such as Windows, Excel, Word, and Vanderbilt's donor management system
Experience in development research is preferred
Knowledge of software programs applicable to development is desirable
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, professional team player with courteous interpersonal skills and an excellent customer service attitude
Candidate must also have the capacity to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex academic environment
The ability to apply sound judgment in all situations is required, as are excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities are essential
