Under general direction, the Information Systems Analyst applies professional concepts, OIT, campus and Office of the President policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.
Primarily focused on developing and maintaining programs written in C#.Net and ASP.Net, with projects using other languages as needed. Writes well-structured, easily readable, efficient, straight forward code that promotes ease of maintenance. Develops code with clear, well-written and thorough documentation and comments. Utilizes good programming practices and follows OIT programming standards to develop secure, low maintenance and easily readable and maintainable code.
Provides operational support including scheduling, monitoring, executing and troubleshooting applications, jobs and processes. Assists with setup, documenting and coverage of production jobs and processes. Monitors data interfaces between Summer Session and external units.
Maintains multiple and varied complex systems and components developed by other IT staff. Identifies structural problems, inefficiencies and areas of non-conformity with standards and refactors code to address these when time permits and after receiving necessary approvals. Must be proficient in analyzing and understanding programs written by others and must be proficient in making modifications and corrections to others' code as needed. Assists fellow programmers in maintaining code written by the incumbent.
Develops and maintains varied and complex relational database driven applications. Demonstrates proficiency in SQL and database application development. Monitors database performance, performing corrective actions/upgrades as necessary. Writes easily read, well-documented and efficient SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions and views. Leverages existing database components and objects when developing new programs.
Analyzes and identifies impacts of changed requirements or processes. Provides operational support by analyzing system behavior, exceptions or incidents to determine cause and identify options for remediation or workarounds.
Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical staff. Must be skilled at eliciting and conveying technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely and devoid of jargon. Must communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
The Enrollment Systems (ES) Unit within the UCI Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for the systems and applications used by six large, complex and mission critical business units: Financial Aid and Scholarships, Financial Services, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Summer Session, and Undergraduate Admissions. The support provided includes daily operational support, monitoring, incident management and troubleshooting; new development, maintenance, upgrades and enhancements to a diverse group of complex in-house developed applications, systems, integrations, data extracts and reports; and support for third-party software products and their integration with other systems.
