The primary purpose of this position is manage Facilities Services functions in a proactive manner to achieve optimum results from the resources allocated; including time, cost, and staffing, while achieving the best quality of services provided to the university.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing Facilities Services functions to provide custodial, grounds and motor pool services; determining the most efficient and effective delivery method for services (i.e. in-house or contract) and awarding appropriate contracts to execute work; developing processes and reports to monitor and adjust operations to encourage competitive operations, increase productivity, develop employee work skills through on-the-job training, ensure compliance with safety and campus standards and contract requirements; managing the motor pool to make sure transportation needs of the UTC campus are met while complying with all policy and legal requirements mandated by UTC, the UT System, and the state of Tennessee; analyzing overhead, vehicle rates, lease options, purchase options, vehicle drive options, fuel management, roadside service, etc.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
A broad background and knowledge of facilities management principles, practices and concepts to include custodial, grounds and motor pool; personnel management and training; and financial management.
Excellent administrative and supervisory skills and experience.
Extensive experience and skill in written and oral communication.
Ability to travel to a variety of locations in-state and out-of-state.
