Position Summary: The Collaborative Pianist(s) acts as the primary coach and accompanist for the Music Department's undergraduate programs in Vocal Performance and Musical Theatre. The collaborative pianist is a part time position that is compensated on an hourly basis for up to 18 hours per week.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Provide weekly coaching to undergraduate vocal performance and musical theatre majors.
Collaborate with vocal performance/musical theatre students and faculty on departmental/degree recitals, juries, auditions, and competitions.
Accompany weekly studio classes and seminars.
Accompany Chamber Singers rehearsals and Musical Theatre Performance classes.
This is a pool posting. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and remain active for up to two years. New adjunct lecturers are hired when needed
Required Qualifications Bachelors in music performance and two years collaborative piano experience or Master of Music in a performance related discipline with focus on collaborative piano or accompanying.
Preferred Qualifications Exceptional piano skills, including outstanding sight-reading skills and ability to read from a lead sheet. Vocal coaching experience in classical and musical theatre genres. Experience with accompanying choral groups.
