The IT applications development and system administrators will primarily support for the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and secondarily support other academic departments within the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). The incumbent reports to the BME Director of Finance and Administration for BME projects and systems. Projects for other departments will be directed by the school's Chief Information Officer (CIO).The incumbent will implement and support hardware/software solutions for the departmental needs in educational, research and business. Proactively assesses the IT hardware and software for improved efficiency/performance and/or upgrades in order to support departmental goals, activities and business processes; develops and updates standard operating procedures and business workflow in the assigned area of responsibility. As part of the engineering school's IT team - adhere to university policies, technical standards and best practices for operational excellence.
(70%) APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT:
(20%) SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION:
Manage departmental servers and systems for research, instruction and business office in a heterogeneous network with Windows, Linux and Mac systems. Able to design and build new servers, configure existing systems and install applications and packages. Able to analyze and troubleshoot hardware & software issues and adhere to university standards for cyber security.
(10%) OTHER TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide IT support in areas such as monitoring systems, network security, backups for DR, AV/teleconferencing system support and end-user workstations.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering-related field is required. MS degree is preferred.
Candidate must be a self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, ability to work reliably and independently, strong teamwork skills and customer service attitude.
