Program Coordinator - Programs Abroad - (19001673)
The Office of Tufts Programs Abroad maintains Tufts' own undergraduate study-abroad programs in Chile, China, Ghana, Hong Kong, Japan, London, Madrid, Oxford, Paris, and Tubingen (Germany) and facilitates students' participation in affiliated provider programs throughout the world. The program also offers customized programs abroad and hosts exchange students from international partners. About 40% of the junior class (more than 500 individuals) studies abroad for a semester or a full academic year.
The Program Coordinator (PC) facilitates the logistics related to the implementation of global education programs and initiatives, interacting with staff, faculty, and students across campus and abroad. S/he provides advance administrative support to the Senior Director and all programs. Part of the US staff with a large portfolio of programs, students, and staff abroad, this role plays an integral part of all operations. S/he will provide complex administrative support, manage communications, facilitate student enrollment and student services, and advise international exchange students. Orchestrating and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy across all platforms through print, social media, website, and events, the Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in events, marketing, outreach, and assessment. S/he will assist with all aspects of education abroad outreach including advising students on requirements, application process, pre-departure preparation, and re-entry in collaboration with various stakeholders. In coordination with other programs and offices, the PC will support our international exchange students on non-visa related areas.
Knowledge and experience as typically acquired by a college degree and several years experience in a related field.
Proficient in MS Office, especially skilled with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and demonstrated use database/content management systems. Knowledge, comfortable with, and excitement for social media platforms. Any design software knowledge preferred.
Experience working in international education, study abroad, global programs, or cultural exchange.
Demonstrated office experience with strong technical skills.
Demonstrated experience in working with databases and content management systems.
Ability to function across a variety of computer platforms and programs, including manipulating spreadsheets and creating visual presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a strong sense of initiative.
Proven experience with managing details and strong communication skills.
Must be able to handle multiple and complex responsibilities.
Global education experience, extensive time abroad, and/or work abroad essential.
Experience in working with undergraduate students.
Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively with college students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Ability to work effectively in intercultural and international situations and in dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere.
Experience working with students going abroad, international students, and/or cultural exchanges.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience managing student employees.
Demonstrated communication, marketing, and outreach skills.
Experience using design software to create marketing materials.
Experience in intercultural communication, diversity, equity, and inclusion student programming in the US or abroad.
Demonstrated writing skills and ability to create detailed reports with visuals.
Should be energetic, self-directed, flexible, and extremely well-organized, customer service orientated, and patient.
Knowledge of a foreign language desirable.
Demonstrated use of social media platforms and communication strategies.
Familiarity with TerraDotta, Slate, Tableau, WebEx, WordPress, Apptricity, and/or other student information systems.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work will be required on occasion. Occasional domestic and international travel may be an option.
