MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The candidate for the position of UX Researcher must meet the following qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Two years of experience in a relevant field such as information technology, user research, or product design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience collaborating with customers and users from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, technical expertise, and education levels.
Demonstrated experience presenting technical topics in a business-oriented fashion to non-technical audiences.
Proven experience establishing strong working relationships with a wide range of team members and clients.
Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.
Experience planning and implementing user research strategies and methods.
Proven analytical abilities.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Ability to measure the business results of user-centric products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the position of UX Researcher has the following qualifications:

Four or more years of experience in a relevant field such as information technology, user research, or product design.
Experience in technical or functional research documentation.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO
The UX Researcher leads the discovery of a broad range of websites, applications, and services and drives innovation in user experience and product usability. The UX Researcher collaborates with business analysts, designers, product managers, and developers to identify and articulate end-user requirements, create meaningful user stories, and target solutions that meet the underlying needs of end users. The UX Researcher seeks to understand user needs within the context of the business goals of the project. As a member of ITS, the UX Researcher demonstrates ITS values in action.
The UX Researcher:
Communicates and presents research plans, findings, insights, and decision-making rationales. Communicates broadly, accessibly, and in an actionable way to stakeholders and team members. Shares timely information freely and openly across the organization. Works collaboratively with others across the organization including business analysts, designers, product managers, developers, and management to deliver engaging experiences. Prioritizes research opportunities to balance user needs, business goals, and technical realities.
Conducts independent research on a variety of products and product functionalities. Collects data and analyzes user behavior through user and stakeholder interviews, surveys, benchmark studies, online experiments, and other experimental techniques. Collaborates with designers and engineers to prioritize research opportunities. Recognizes opportunities to incorporate technical and business requirements into research.
Designs and executes research initiatives that are appropriate and relevant for different user constituencies. Executes user research to gain insights into user pain points, challenges, and needs. Demonstrates research relevance of design solutions to stakeholders, business owners, and teams.
Contributes to innovation and continuous improvement in user design by leveraging the latest industry knowledge. Continually develops skills, knowledge, and abilities by maintaining currency on emerging technologies and design approaches.
Drives consistency and usability of USC's digital products through a deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies, university policies, processes, procedures, and standards.
Uses best practices for common research questions including method selection and problem articulation. Presents research findings in an actionable way. Leverages tools and techniques to create innovative prototyping and testing environments. Develops new research methods or adapts existing methods to meet local research needs. Uses research data from a variety of sources to inform decisions and make recommendations.
Contributes to an inclusive environment that values differences by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members, peers, and ITS leaders. Actively embodies ITS values and behaviors including accountability, ethics, and best-in-class customer service.
