University Club Sports - Head Rugby Club Coach Part-time, Fixed Term-INQ0233369
Carnegie Mellon University is seeking applicants for a University Club Sports Head Rugby coach. (Part-time, fixed term, Club Sports). Carnegie Mellon Rugby Club is a competitive student-run organization affiliated with the Three Rivers Rugby Conference and consists of men who compete primarily in games against other conference teams.
The Coach of University Club Sports Rugby team is expected to:
Possess knowledge of effective training methods and use this knowledge to create a training program that is consistent with competing at the highest levels of collegiate rugby
Make this plan and its motivations and explanations available to the team where applicable
Implement this plan, including but not limited to: attending all practices, giving feedback both during and outside of practice, providing guidance to those who wish to do additional training outside of practice
Create a long-term plan for the club including but not limited to: practice schedule, game schedule, recruitment, equipment etc.
Provide other rugby resources where appropriate
Organize and attend all practices which should be held during most weeks that class is in session
Begin and end all practices on time
Plan non-conference game schedule
Make sure referees are at all home games
Ensure that the club has sufficient transportation to games and assist equipment manager in making sure all necessary equipment is brought to each game
Create lineups for all games
Assist each player with game preparation and reflection
Create a one-year and long-term equipment plan, i.e. purchasing, selling, and maintenance actions, working with Treasurer and take into account financial status of the team
Correspond with team president, treasurer, and equipment manager to make sure purchasing of equipment goes smoothly
Bachelor's degree required with competitive club, high school or collegiate coaching experience preferred.
Level 100 USA Rugby Certification or higher.
This is an Independent Contractor position with the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics Department. This is not an employee position. The Independent Contractor will work closely with student organizations, while the contracting relationship is managed by the Athletics Department. The successful applicant must be willing to complete all necessary Independent Contractor requirements. Background check is required prior to employment.
