Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for Public Health Research Institute. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Teaching Specialist III conducts research in the field of the role of interferons in viral transmission and pathogenesis in Dr. Theresa L. Chang's laboratory.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Candidate will examine the role of hormone, innate immunity, and microbiome in viral pathogenesis in humans and mouse models.
Candidate will carry out assignments in the laboratory and help manage the laboratory. He/She will compile and present statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations in a weekly group meeting.
The candidate will assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications for the funding of research activities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
The candidate should be familiar with handling infectious agents, ELISA, multi-color FACS analysis, molecular cloning, real-time PCR analysis, protein expression, biological assays, and immunofluorescent microscopy.
Experience in processing primary cells from blood and tissue as well as handling mice is essential.
The candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills.
