Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager for Talent and Organization, the Learning and Organizational Development Specialist assess needs and uses professional training and organizational development concepts and the organization's objectives to identify learning and development strategies for UCOP employees. Establishes learning plans, creates curriculum, uses technology, manages implementation, and evaluates effectiveness of learning strategies and programs. Manages relationships with organization Subject Matter Experts and outside vendors, including contracting, scheduling, communication, preparation, and evaluation. Provides training in person and virtually for leadership, management, performance management, organizational systems, and other skills as required.
The Learning and Organizational Development Specialist exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for performance improvement. Establishes cross functional partnerships to support change and growth. Works on complex organizational development, performance and training issues, where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of organization strategies and business objectives.
This position is located in the UCOP HR department. We oversee human resources programs and policies for the Office of the President. UCOP HR is dedicated to serving and supporting staff, and to building a work environment where employees feel involved and empowered to offer their best. - In partnership with the Learning and Development team, supports the design and implementation of the UCOP Talent and Organizational plan strategic plan.
- Provide organizational development and learning services to UCOP departments. Topics include organizational change and design, strategic planning, succession planning, career development, performance management, on boarding, team effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, people skills, and performance management.
-Supports the development and implementation of department workforce planning based on UCOP workforce goals and vision.
- Designs leadership development based on talent assessment, organizational and department vision, and workforce planning goals. Implements 360 surveys to support growth on organization competencies.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of 5 years of learning and organizational development experience.
Advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of organizational development and talent assessment strategies.
Knowledge and experience with 360 assessments and leadership development
Knowledge of instructional system design.
Advanced knowledge of training and delivery methodologies, organizational diagnosis and organization and business strategies.
Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and advanced presentation skills.
Knowledge of vendor negotiation, project management, and contract management.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required for development of training instructor and participant materials. Knowledge of online learning management systems.
