The Center for Counseling & Student Development is seeking to hire two (2) temporary part-time (20 hours a week) Staff Counselors for Fall Semester 2019 (August 16, 2019 thru December 15, 2019) and Spring Semester 2020 (January 16, 2020 thru May 15, 2020). Hours worked per week are negotiable based on departmental needs.
The Staff Counselor’s primary duty is to provide counseling and short-term treatment for students with psychological and developmental concerns.
Specific Positions Duties: Counseling individuals and groups regarding personal, social, and developmental concerns. Provide crisis intervention services including consultation, evaluation, counseling, referral, and follow-up. These services may include rotating coverage of daytime emergency crisis services. Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Director. Provide consultation to parents, students, staff/faculty on as needed basis.
Staff Counselors may report to either the Director or Associate Director of the Center for Counseling & Student Development.
Due to the temporary nature of this position, it does not include a benefits package.

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy, or other appropriate human services field. Three (3) years experience in Counseling. Demonstrated skills in short-term mental health counseling and appropriate assessment. Demonstrated interest in and experience working with college students including diverse and/or underrepresented college student populations. Demonstrated ability and interest in outreach programming. Demonstrated consultation skills. Knowledge of clinical evaluation techniques, computer programs and current research in the field. Fully licensed or certified in North Carolina in respective professional field.
