Computational and Data-Driven Infrastructure-Environment Interaction A postdoctoral appointment is available for an interdisciplinary joint project with the Khazanovich and Vandenbossche groups at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
We seek a highly motivated engineer for a unique opportunity to conduct research on interaction of infrastructure and environment, particularly on the effects of pavement materials and design on the urban microclimate and human factors.
The successful applicant will possess a PhD in civil engineering or related fields, have an excellent academic record, and work well in a collaborative research environment. We are looking for applicants with experience in pavement material characterization (both laboratory and in-situ), pavement design, computational modeling of pavements and buildings, assessment of the local microclimatic impact of pavements on urban environment, pavement-urban canyon computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, and human factors related to the urban microclimate. Experience in undergraduate teaching is highly desirable, but not required.
Fluency in English (written and oral) is required. Excellent scientific writing skills, the ability to organize data and clearly disseminate findings and scientific concepts are essential. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility for extension.
The start date is flexible, with a preference for candidates ready to begin in a September - October timeframe. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
