Research Support Services - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (19000662)
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Animal Technician in the Shared Research Support Services. The incumbent will ensure proper care of all animals in the facility, routinely inspect the facility to ensure that it meets all Federal, State and Local requirements pertaining to the use and care of lab animals. The incumbent will also assist animal care supervisor in special procedures with some direction from research areas.
Additional responsibilities include accurate record keeping with regard to billing of facility, controlled drugs and supplies as well as time and effort of those supervised, and administering controlled drugs and drawing blood samples.
NOTE: The hiring range is for full-time positions and will be prorated based on 60% effort.
Pay and working title will be commensurate with the experience of the selected candidate. Minimum education and related experience required. However Bachelor degree, high school diploma plus 1 year or GED plus 5 years experience plus the completion of a technical school program for animal care Level II AALLAS certification may result in higher pay and responsibilities.
