SENIOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANT , Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) , to provide complex and diverse financial support for pre-and post-award grants administration. Responsibilities include assisting with various facets of proposals preparation, review, and submission, including reading solicitation, communicating with stakeholders, budget creation and development, and collection of proposal files; assisting with and preparing monthly spending forecasts and other financial reports; conducting financial review and control activities for a portfolio of faculty accounts; preparing budget spreadsheets; preparing and approving requisitions, invoices, RFPs, travel vouchers, credit card charges, etc.; assisting with the preparation, review, and submission of grant proposals, including drafting the budget and collecting the proposal files; analyzing and interpreting widely varying situations and resolving issues; interacting with vendors, MIT procurement representatives, faculty, staff, and students to understand and resolve accounting issues; responding to inquiries by lab personnel; maintaining records, files, and account documentation; communicating effort and cost object information regarding research assistant appointments; and performing other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years' direct/related financial/accounting experience; knowledge of and experience with financial systems, spreadsheets, accounting tools, and general finance administration; excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to set priorities, work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, and deal with frequent interruptions; and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; discretion with confidential information; and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Associate's or bachelor's degree and knowledge of OSP Kuali COEUS, SAP, and MIT's financial and administrative systems strongly preferred. Job #17758-6
