See details below The purpose of the Assistant Director of Communication, Outreach and Enrollment Support position is to ensure efficient and effective delivery of financial aid to all eligible students. The position is responsible for the daily operations, training and supervision of the campus staff involved in the awarding and delivery of financial aid. The delivery includes but is not limited to the development, maintenance and assessment of all financial aid computerized systems while providing financial assistance and excellent customer service to all students. The AD of Communication, Outreach and Enrollment Support ensures excellent quality service to students and staff, consistency of information to all staff, training and outreach efforts to the community. The Assistant Director monitors staff work and handles any student staff complaints from the campus. Also handles and monitors phone coverage, email inquiries and delegates work to staff accordingly.
The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Financial Aid and supervises, plans, schedules and assigns/monitors work to Financial Aid Counselors and student employees. Assists in managing the general operations of the Office of Financial Aid. Processes financial aid, counseling of students, and all administrative support for special programs, online programs, and all other graduate programs. Works as a liaison between the Enrollment Services Staff and the Office of Financial Aid. This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the outreach needs of the Financial Aid Office, ensuring coverage is provided at all recruitment events, FAFSA workshops, High school nights and scheduling and other outreach events as needed by both departments, SOU community and others. Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding and advise students and families on all aspects of the Federal, State and institutional financial aid application processes; satisfactory academic progress necessary to maintain eligibility to receive financial aid, and financial considerations of enrollment and retention.
Minimum Classification Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Five years of experience in Financial Aid processing, three years in a supervisory or lead (leading projects, processes and staff) capacity required.
The Assistant Director should have broad experience in federal and state student aid regulations, financial aid policy, needs analysis, financial aid packaging methodology, and human relations.

All Listed Duties:
Customer Service and Financial Aid Operations: Overseas and supervises the daily operations and coordination of financial aid services, including the supervision of the Financial Aid Counselors and student employees of the financial aid office, providing excellent and consistent customer service. Provides continuous guidance to staff advising students regarding financial aid programs, eligibility requirements and the application process to students and parents. Analyzes and evaluates financial aid eligibility for students. Overseas staff in the training and application of new financial aid processes and regulations ensuring the accuracy and consistency of information provided to students, staff and community. Responsible for the overall supervision of the Financial Aid Counselors and resolving issues regarding SOU staff and students. Manages the Financial Aid email accounts and ensure emails are answered in a timely fashion. Work closely with the Enrollment Services Associates to ensure accuracy of information is given to students and parents. Monitor student appointments and ensure accuracy and that processes are being followed in accordance with Title IV federal regulations.
Financial Aid Outreach: Works to coordinate, promote and staff all financial aid outreach events, including but not limited to Admissions recruiting events, Raider Registrations, Orientations, Preview Days, FAFSA workshops and events, tabling around campus as needed. Manages and monitors the Financial Aid Social Media account under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid. Review and update communications to students via system emails, counselor emails, postcards and any other communication that is sent through the Office of Financial Aid. Work to ensure accurate messaging is provided. Review award letters and debt letters for accuracy. Assists in organizing implementing and presenting financial aid workshops for currently enrolled and prospective students. This position also acts as a liaison between Financial Aid and other departments.
Financial Aid Planning/Enrollment Support: Overseas the short and long range of financial aid planning under the supervision of the Financial Aid Director, including delivering on the customer services aspect of financial aid. The AD position interfaces with many external systems such as Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), Central Processing Service (CPS) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) as well as OSAC and DOE. This position contributes by providing recommendations regarding staff training needs in relation to BANNER as well as the interpretation of federal financial aid regulations. Assists the Assistant Director of Financial Aid Information Systems in updating the financial aid processes to more effectively package, award and distribute aid according to state and federal guidelines. Further, assists in maintaining campus decorum to ensure the most current information and processes are being followed and delivered to students.
Other duties as assigned: This position will attend and sometimes chair financial aid committees, including form development, satisfactory progress and others as needed. Assists in writing, training and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures. Assists with the development of departmental policies, procedures and manuals such as the Hit by the Bus Manual. Provides departmental support in identifying and solving issues as they arise.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work additional hours and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
