FISCAL OFFICER , Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) , to join the fiscal team of a large, interdisciplinary laboratory with a diverse sponsor base and annual activities exceeding $50M, with more than 175 federal and industrial sponsor proposal submissions per year. Will serve as an advisor and primary point of contact for principal investigators (PIs) and project leaders on complex post-award matters; monitor the financial performance of active grants and contracts and provide regular updates to PIs; provide financial analysis and oversight on complex matters and prepare reports for PIs, senior administrators, and sponsors; continually monitor sponsored research and discretionary accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies through the life of the award, including close-out; develop--with PIs--a wide range of research proposal budgets and all administrative content of proposals; and collaborate on developing solutions for complex issues. The position involves regular interactions with departments across MIT.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in a related field; at least five years' accounting or finance experience; knowledge of federal guidelines; experience with federal contracts and financial administration in an academic research environment; high-level proficiency with Excel and familiarity with other MS Office programs; excellent customer service, analysis, organizational, and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; willingness to embrace learning new business methods and computational skills; demonstrated record of assuming greater responsibility over time; and ability to work both independently and as a member of a productive and innovative team in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases a plus. Research proposal processing and pre-award administration preferred.
