The System Administrator's role is to manage physical and virtual servers, and storage resources to ensure high levels of availability and security of business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance activities support effective security controls and are consistent with industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Required: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
● Individual will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Concept and Community Covenant. ● Must be fluent with Windows networking and advanced desktop support. ● Windows Group Policy management. ● Operational knowledge of Linux. ● Operational knowledge of server virtualization and virtual desktop technologies. ● Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on servers, computers, and peripheral equipment. ● Valid Michigan driver's license is required. ● Technical problem-solving skills and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. ● Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds. ● Working knowledge of Helpdesk Management and support escalation procedures. ● Working knowledge of VMware. ● Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently. ● Strong proficiency with infrastructure availability-monitoring software and equipment and with installation troubleshooting and maintaining all aspects of structured cabling.
Desired: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
● Advance Linux scripting skills, Python, Perl and bash scripting. ● SQL Server basic administrative skills. ● Proficiency with Windows PowerShell scripting. ● Working knowledge of IT service methodologies within Higher Education that includes Student, faculty and Academic Support. ● Microsoft Systems Management Server. ● Working knowledge of Docker. ● Experience with automation tools; Ansible, Cloud formation, Docker Build. ● Proficient with Windows Servers, Active Directory, Intel-based server hardware, enterprise data center operations, virtualization, and cloud technologies. ● Operational knowledge of network and routing protocols, DNS and proxy servers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
● Degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience as System Administrator or similar IT operations role. Work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. ● Minimum 2 years of experience in System Administrator or similar IT operations role.
● Experience with service delivery within an IT standards framework such as ITIL or ITSM. ● Servers and network monitoring tools. ● Storage Management. ● Analytic skills for using spreadsheets to track issues, plan projects and perform and perform a cost analysis. ● VMWare host management. ● Linux Service configuration, firewall and user group management. ● CDN Management and AWS S3. ● HTTP Web services; NGINX, Apache, IIS or NodeJS. ● Work experience or certifications in the following: o Microsoft Active Directory o Windows Print Services o Windows File Services
