The Senior Associate Director, Digital and Social Engagement plays an integral team role in developing and executing the social and digital strategy for the promotion of Alumni Relations (OAR), Advancement, and university programs and initiatives. They will be a creative force for developing and cultivating a stronger Northeastern alumni community through existing and future digital platforms. The Senior Associate Director, Digital and Social Engagement will:
1.Use digital and social tools to enhance engagement with over 260,000 alumni across the globe 2.Drive forward our digital strategy by establishing an expertise across our digital systems including website, email marketing, and social media 3.Serve as the primary strategist for OAR's robust paid-social program 4.Manage and update the email marketing strategy to better align it with OAR's overall engagement strategy, including coming up with ideas to better integrate email, web, and social platforms 5.Develop and execute a social strategy to enhance OAR's visibility and presence, and work with key team members and departments to outline and drive comprehensive social media plans for various OAR and Advancement programs and initiatives 6.Develop and execute a content marketing strategy for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, website and more, that is in line with OAR and Advancement goals 7.Track and analyze the results of digital marketing campaigns, and use the analysis to develop more efficient and effective campaigns through refined templates and content, ultimately maximizing the department's engagement with alumni 8.Leverage content management and analytics tools, and develop and monitor performance indicators to generate better insight into our social communities and provide recommendations for improvement 9.Play an integral role in disseminating information and promoting the university's campaigns to stakeholders through close partnership with internal OAR teams, the Advancement Communications Department and other university stakeholders; and, 10.Manage a digital team of two coordinators.
The Senior Associate Director, Digital and Social Engagement must be able to represent the university and the OAR team in a professional, enthusiastic manner with a customer service and team focus. The Senior Associate Director must have the ability to speak to audiences of various sizes and in various settings and should be aware of and adaptable to accommodating cultural differences. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate. Occasional ground and air travel, and a flexible schedule are required. While the primary role of this position is to focus on marketing and communications, it will require some work with assisting at several OAR events throughout the year, and other duties, as assigned.
As a member of the Advancement Division, it is essential for the Senior Associate Director, Digital and Social Engagement to understand and support the role philanthropy plays in engaging the Northeastern community.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree a plus. Five, or more, years of experience in developing, executing and analyzing digital marketing campaigns through email, social media, and web that drove strategic goals. Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other comparable and up-and-coming social media channels. Demonstrated experience in managing successful paid social campaigns. Demonstrated proficiency in managing email service providers like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and CMS systems such as Wordpress. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Experience with third-party social media software tools and relevant social listening or engagement tools. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communications. Experience managing a small team of direct reports. Strong project management skills required.
Candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter with enthusiasm for creative problem-solving and a strong customer service focus. Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, volunteers, students, colleagues, staff, faculty, vendors and external entities; Ability to be flexible and work independently and in a fast-paced team environment on multiple projects at a time while still hitting deadlines amid regularly shifting priorities; Experience working in higher education a plus. Experience with in-platform and third-party analytics tools like Tweetdeck a plus. Certification in Blueprint and Flight School a plus.
